Talk about a tough bracket: the semi-finals could have 3 of the top 5 in the US
(Here's the pairings with their NATIONAL rankings & records)

# 2 Mater Dei 11-0
174 Vista Murrieta 9-2

#14 Rancho Cucamonga 11-0
#18 Mission Viejo 11-0

# 4 St. John Bosco 9-2 (loses to #2 Mater Dei & #3 Bishop Gorman)
#89 Santa Margarita 7-4 (loses to #2 Mater Dei, #4 St John Bosco, #18 Mission Viejo)

# 5 Centennial 10-1 (1 pt. loss to #1 IMG Academy)
123 Chaminade 8-3

Yeah, but according to most of these posters, Snowflake, Show Low and Blue ridge (on an up year) could hang! ;)

That's some serious playoff football right there, CJ! The last seed would take the 3A division here in Arizona!

I think the Bosco/Margarita game will be the better of the two, but I still think that neither game is closer than 25 points.

St Johns Bosco 44
Santa Margarita 14

Mater Dei 58
Vista Murrieta 10

My nephew Kane bowen is a DE and P for Vista murietta. He is a senior and low d1 high d2 caliber punter.

Ha!!! I grew up in Rancho Cucamonga (before it became an incorporated city -- areas formerly known as Alta Loma, Cucamonga and Etiwanda). Graduated from Alta Loma High School and lived in Alta Loma and Etiwanda, about 50 years ago ... before Rancho Cucamonga and Etiwanda High Schools existed. Etiwanda High has become a national powerhouse in basketball.

What an amazing matchup for the title!

I'm going to take Mater Dei 42-38, though I actually think that St John's Bosco wins the game by 7 pts, 49-42.

I saw the highlights of Bosco 49-47 over Centennial - crazy. Here's some quotes from MaxPreps:
http://www.maxpreps.com/news/_G6Ii1SYLU ... ootout.htm
Quote:
The teams combined for nearly 110 points & 1,100 yards...
Centennial had a 14-0 lead early... Bosco responds with 4 straight TDs...

Centennial goes on a 20-pt run to go up 28-34 with 11:11 to go in the 4th;
A Bosco fake reverse goes 99 yards, leads 35-34 with 10:48 remaining;
Centennial 39-yd pass then puts them up 35-41 with 10:14 left;
Bosco 50 yard pass puts them back on top 42-41 with 6:46 on the clock;
Centennial 59 yard run (missed conversion) 42-47 with 5:54 to go;
Bosco's 67 yard touchdown = final score of 49-47 with 5:11 left;
Centennial stopped 3 inches short.

They play high-octane, exciting brand of football in that area. That secton always has 3-4 teams ranked in the top 25 every season.

So, does that make Gorman back to back National Champion's?

They will probably wait a week or two to declare a national champion, after all the teams finish their playoffs.

Personally, I think IMG Academy played a tougher schedule than Gorman as far as traveling around the US.

I think Gorman's schedule was tougher. They played 5 games against teams ranked in the Top 25 at the time they played and were more dominant in those games, aside from the 3OT game against St Thomas Aquinas.
