Chandler accepted the invitation to play in the GEICO State Champions Bowl Series on Dec. 23 against either the Georgia or Florida champion.

It will be held at the Dallas Cowboys' 12,000-seat indoor practice facility in Frisco, Texas, and will be televised on ESPNU with a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.

State champion teams from Georgia, Florida, Utah and Arizona will be eligible to play... the teams invited will be based on rankings, such as USA TODAY’s Super 25 rankings, the teams’ classifications and other factors.

likely invitees would be:
No. 8 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale),
No. 9 Roswell (Ga.), or No. 19 Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.),
No. 16 Bingham (South Jordan, Utah).

That sucks for the dual sport athletes who wrestle or play basketball.

It's a great opportunity though to play in a nationally televised game and I'm sure there will be tons of college scouts attending. I like Chandler's chances against the schools you listed.

St. Thomas Aquinas has speed that Chandler has seen all season though. I saw them twice on television...extremely fast at the skilled positions and BIG on both lines.

'Pointe really layed an egg! If Aquinas played Chandler, it would be a running clock in the 2nd half. Just my opinion.

Why wouldn't IMG Academy be the team out of Florida?

AJ, MP scored a 90 yard run against Desert Ridge and three defensive TDs. They scored on a reverse pass, a defensive TD and another 90 yard run against Red Mountain. Against Chandler, it was a 90 yard run accounting for 7 of their 17 points.

They were a bad offensive team in the playoffs. They had major issues at RB and QB. Vaughan is such a master of the run the ball, play defense game that they were able to beat Ridge and Red Mountain. But this is not the same MP team from 7-8 weeks ago. Defensively they were great and holding Chandler to 36 and even being in the game took a great defensive effort. The offense gave Chandler point blank range over and over.

Looks like IMG plays an independent schedule, not with the Florida HS Athletic Association

Grayson (Loganville, GA)
Centennial (Corona, CA)
Washington (Tulsa, OK)
St. John's (Washington, DC)
Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, CA)
St. Frances (Baltimore, MD)
Bishop Sullivan (Virginia Beach, VA)

1st GEICO Bowl Series Champion = Chandler: beat Valdosta 44-24
http://www.maxpreps.com/news/pQjGawCi8U ... -texas.htm

I would've picked Chandler based on rankings
Chandler: National #16, AZ #1
Valdosta: National #54, GA #4

On that note, here's the national rankings for:
Aquinas #7
Bingham #39

Cal-preps has a hypothetical match up generator for teams from 2003-2016 on a neutral field
(http://www.calpreps.com/cgi-bin/2016/project_matchup.pl)

Aquinas 34, Bingham 21
Chandler 34, Valdosta 22

Bingham fumbles on the goal line, Aquinas picks it up and makes a 99-yard touchdown: leads 20-0
