I'll take:

Chinle over Alchesay (could actually go either way)
Snowflake over Cortez (Lobos transition game will be the difference)
Kingman over Show Low (no 'elite eight' banner for SL this year - maybe 'sweet sixteen'? )
Thatcher over Benson (picking the upset here - only other meeting was a 3 pt. win for Benson)
Yuma over Bisbee
Holbrook over Combs
Scottsdale Chr. over Tuba City
Valley Chr. over Florence (the bottom half of the bracket will be taken over by the private schools this round)

ee smart AIA. Change the Chinle/Alchesay game to the Wildcat Den.

A home game for Chinle? How would that be fair? I know there will be a huge crowd. AIA probably should have moved this one to Ganado or Window Rock to help accommodate the crowd. The closer this game gets, the more I like the Falcons to pull the upset on the number one seed.

That's one of the many problems the AIA has; lack of flexibility. They could have had a contingency plan in place to have the game at a larger venue. As long as they get their money, they don't care. However, turning people away in Mon. Valley will cost them 1/3 or more of the revenue they could have had from this game.

Wow! That's a huge win for Tuba City. Congrats to the Warriors and Warrior fans. You managed to slay one of the giants in the Div. III tourney. Next up will be Valley Christian; another of those giants. Good luck.

Unfortunately, the Lobos didn't fair as well in a loss to Cortez. Great game, throughout, but Cortez managed to force turnovers and pull away several times including the final couple of minutes after SF closed it to 2. Good luck Cortez. Great season, Lobos. The two losses to SL should be the only ones you regret. They both ended up being costly when it came time to fill in the brackets.

I took it alright:

Chinle won - but not without some fight by the Falcons
Cortez won - the big man is big, but their strength is those guards who can really pressure the ball
Show Low won - How about some conditioning, Kingman Academy? Really?
Benson won - Thatcher must have sent the JV for this one. Not even close.
Yuma Catholic won - I heard Bisbee was the real deal down there. What happenned?
Combs won - Holbrook can be proud of getting as far as they did in a rebuilding year.
Tuba City won - this will stand as the upset of the tournament. SCA was supposedly THE team.
Valley Christian won - Florence took them to the wire though. Tuba has a shot here.

For those of you who are mathematically challenged, that makes me 1 for 7 in those picks. Maybe I should just stick to football. Oh well, it was fun anyway.
