5AI and 5AII are tough to pick this season. I'll pick Lake Havasu to continue adding to their 17 game winning streak in 5AII for a couple more games, but Pinnacle's going to be a tough out.

In 5AI, both Buena (#1) and North (#2) are riding 14 game winning streaks, so I'll pick both of them to make it through their respective bracket to meet in the title game. Salpointe and Mesa Mtn View will be tough obstacles for Buena. It seems to me that the bottom half of the 5AI bracket is the easier of the two, but Chavez and Mountain Pointe could be tough games for North. However, I don't see many teams being able to handle the Mustangs' Alan Williams.

I have Pinnacle (as long as they get by a tough, tough Tolleson team on Saturday, that will be a close game) and, believe it or not Fairfax HS in the 5AII final. Can't believe Havasu beat Marcos. Marcos looks like a small college team jogging out onto the court, just couldn't pull it together and gel this year.

5A1 will be Mt. View against North in the final with the Toros winning and Coach Ernst getting something like his 10th gold ball.

Lake Havasu has been playing well. Don't be surprised if they win on Saturday.

Wow, 5A didn't disappoint, with Mt. View crushing opponent after opponent to claim the gold ball. And, while I didn't predict them to win it, Fairfax did make the 5aII final and they took hom the lower division title.

Coach Ernst of Mt View is perhaps the greatest coach, all sports, all divisions in the state currently, no offense to anyone. Most wins in State history, 8 titles, 7 in the last 16 years, coached against Lebron as Coach of the Mcdonald's All-American team when James was a Senior, and countless region titles and collegiate athletes. He is truly a class act.
